Girl’s On The Go

‘Thank god it’s Friday’ gets added frolic when there is a weekend trip to look forward to. We did the same last weekend and returned all rejuvenated. It was a pure soul –sisters’ getaway with no kinfolk, no bosses and no boys.

Spa, swimming, shooting and smiling were the four S’s on our agenda. Sharing a part of that weekend, we are here to let you sneak in our travel essentials and dressing tips for contradicting personalities-Free-flowy me (Shagun) and structured-organised Sonali.

Perfumes: Giving this post an aromatic start, two of our favourite perfume picks are Versace Crystal Noir and Chanel Chance. Both are extremely long lasting and instantaneous in uplifting the mood.

Versace Noir is sweet and mysterious at the same time. Though not mentioned anywhere, there is a hidden fragrance of coconut that adds to the enigmatic mystery.

Chanel Chance is a relatively lighter and floral fragrance with hints of vanilla. It is great for day wear.

Also, if you prefer body mists in summers then our pick is Body Shop Pomegranate. It is sweet and fruity and definitely refreshing.

Natural colour lipsticks always work and so do bronze eye pencils. Our kohl pics are Revelon colorstay and Maybelline Colossal for their long smudge-proof stay. Body Shop cheek and lip stains are the most essential cosmetics in my everyday bag. They are amazing as they stay on all day unlike powder blushes. It goes without saying that sunglasses are important, so pick a pair of big ones or aviators if you are a Ray-Ban fan like me. Few accessories though not essential are good to carry. Do not forget to pick a small shampoo sachet if your hair do not accept random shampoos. I am sure you don’t want to end up having a bad hair day while on a holiday. A nice hand-cream should always be there. You definitely don’t want to pull back your hand if its a dream guy extending a handshake.

A pretty brooch is a must have as it adds elegance and femininity to even the most dreary dress. This one is from multi-designer store- WHITE, Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi

Mint is the colour of the season. Sonali’s golden and peppermint earrings looked stunning with a simple white shift dress. The image below reminds me how important is to keep a band-aid. On getaways of any sorts, it is nearly impossible that everyone returns unbrusied. A paper cut for that matter will do the needful. Sigh! But a pretty band-aid can make up for that in style.

Coming to clothes, pick few things that suit your mood. If you are the holiday cum organized kinds, then do carry a mono-coloured cotton jacket and formal pants. Sonali did the same with her trendy jacket, black pants while keeping up the style with her pearl neck piece, brooch and pop-colour heels. Keeping hair back neatly with a plastic/metal band is a good idea as well.

On the contrary, I even hate wearing a watch on holiday. Absolutely free-flowing and unorganized is the key for me. Dresses and Maxis give me style sanity. Not assessorised much, this looks calls for a small sling-bag and a statement ring or studs. But if you are on a sporty holiday then all you need is a tiny pair of comfortable shorts, flats and t-shirt.

Animal print maxis are classic if you can carry them well. They work both for a casual day out if accompanied with flats and apt for evenings if worn with heels.
