There are some fashion shows but then there are some jaw-dropping fashion shows. The second category is what we got to witness when Rina Dhaka’s work took centre stage at The Oberoi Hotel, New Delhi on 30th August, 2012.
The show had it all to make one stir up and take notice. The energy and vibrancy on the ramp were absolutely un-matched. Tribal motifs and the vibrant mirror work of Bhuj got recreated in the form of prints as Rina superimposed them with a vintage looking lattice motif in sequin. Dreamy chiffons were combined with cotton tulle, nets and satin to blend in fitted forms with controlled volume. A sense of transparency with decorous highlights in thread embroidery gave the collection its peekaboo appeal.
Taking an inspiration from the ethos of The 3C Company, a leader of Green Revolution in Delhi NCR, Rina synergized her collection with the company’s motto to create care conserve, what we as citizens of the earth have inherited as our natural resources.
So, for all those who thought that fashion was all that frivolous, think again- it can sure do much for a social cause! The evening saw the fashionistas putting their most stylist foot forward. What made this show a memorable one was nothing but great fashion, fashion and fashion.
For all those who missed it, don’t envy us- instead get glued to what follows:
