Here Comes Svedka!

“I love Sweden. The entire world should be like Sweden. They all like to drink and get naked, and the women are hot. I can’t think of a better nation on the planet”  -Drew Curtis

In Mr. Curtis´words, Sweden seems like the place that defines `Free-Spirited´. Well, for those of us in India who can`t travel to Sweden at the moment can get a sense of that informality and openness with the newly launched vodka- SVEDKA. The unveiling of the chic Sweden Vodka was done with a super bash at FIO hosted by Suhail Mehra, Prateek Jain and Gautam Seth. The vodka that boasts of being distilled 5 times looks pretty like this and comes in different flavours.

For many of us who might not know, it is pronounced as SWA-EKA 😉

Celebrating the Jean-Claude Biguine Way!

On Saturday, all roads in Mumbai led to Olive  Bar & Kitchen to be in company of Jean-Claude Biguine, who visited India for the 5th successful anniversary of the premium salon & spa in India.

The evening was enjoyed with much glitz and glam as in attendance were Vidyut Jamwal, Shaina NC, Gul Panag, Mandira Bedi & Raj Kaushal, Salim Sulaiman among others who graced the event with their presence.

The talk-point of the evening definitely was the fact that designers Troy Costa, Nishka Lulla and Drashta Sarvaiya teamed-up with coiffures from Jean-Claude Biguine India for a gala fashion affair.

The evening beautifully displayed the coming together of hair couture and apparel design in the spirit of Parisian style and fashion.

Let us turn to what the man of the moment had to say,” Beauty is always there…it needs to be enhanced with the right services in the right mood by well trained professionals who practice beauty as a passion, not a profession”, said Jean-Claude Biguine.

So, boys and girls- never the let the spirit of beauty die!

Fashion Walk @ WIFW

The capital has recently been buzzing with news, rumours and gossip from the Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week, where designers showcased their beautiful collections for Spring Summer 14´. Shameless to say that we did go missing this time but made up for it on Day-5 by quickly catching up on each designer´s collection. The splendid pieces left us wanting to turn thieves but we somehow managed to keep sanity. Since, everyone has their favourites, we both also picked some of our most lusted pieces from the week.

Much in talk, Masaba´s collection was a beautiful interplay of sporty and ethnic. There were some pieces that looked a little impractical in terms of silhouette and even wear-ability. We did like some of the pieces and specially the two below apart from the very beautiful and interesting sling bags. Sonali loved the white printed piece and I fell for this blue and red striped dress with princely embroidery used to add contrast.

Below is a peek into the colours flashing out of Yogesh Chaudhary´s stall. The pieces under the label called Surendri had a mix of spark, colour and lots of fun. Most importantly the pieces looked very wearable and contemporary.

Image

Do we need to mention that below is a shot from Manish Arora`s stall? The pieces speak out loud and with enough pride. It was our first time to see these Indian ethnic pieces from the designer and it was such a treat. I love this one the most. The pink and green combo with those way too cute hearts are something to heart.

Image

Now time for a relatively lesser known label, 5 Elements by Radhika Gupta that completely mesmerised us with trendy and quirky accessories. My pick are these two. Skull flats and statement clutch.! And honestly, I was a little confused what to pick for I liked so many pieces. Can I own them all? Are you listening Radhika!

Image

Well, if you thought that letters and numbers are for kindergarten text books then you might as well take a look at the pics below. Creative designer, Niharika Pandey showed us how pencils, alphabets and more from school can define trends.

And once we had visited all these fancy stalls, it was time to find something to quench our dry throats. We were indeed lucky to discover Antidote. They are just what you should look out for! Organic, cold pressed and healthy juices! They are yummy and truly rejuvenating and needless to say a much better option to pick over fizz.

Pinktober @ Hard Rock Café

It´s not often that a brand takes a social issue beyond just a CSR stunt. Hard Rock Café has however left Sonali and me pretty impressed with their PINKTOBER campaign, which has been a constant annual activity from the last 14 years. That is some seriousness!  Isn’t it?

For those who are not aware about the campaign- Pinktober is a Breast Cancer awareness campaign run in the month of October at Hard Rock Café.  This initiative with PINK menu offerings, Pink drinks, live music events highlighting local and emerging talent and limited-edition merchandise helps celebrate the courage of breast cancer survivors and their efforts to spread awareness. Hard Rock Café outlets in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Pune and Hyderabad will donate the proceeds from their month long charity efforts to the Elle-Ogaan Cancer Foundation.

This year it means even more for us as we got to attend an interactive bloggers meet with experts from Indian Cancer Society, organised by HRC, Saket. It was an extremely informative session and imparted in-depth knowledge on the health issue that we otherwise tend to ignore. What is also considered a taboo in Indian society, Breast Cancer has become a more than common problem in urban setups. But what is sad is that unlike the developed nations, the survival rate in India is very less and the only reason behind the same is an ignorant population. Doesn’t it make sense to just know a little about problem and take the right preventive measures. Here, are some very quick tips on how the evil Breast Cancer can be kept far far away!

-To start with, every woman must do a self breast examination test every-month followed by a time to time medical examination specially after the age of 30.

– We know alcohol and cigarettes tempt but trust us they cause not only cancer but a lot of other harmful diseases. So, quit smoking completely and atleast reduce consumption of alcohol as much as possible.

– Maintain a low fat diet and maintain weight.

– Exercise regularly.

To sum up, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, while also doing regular examinations. And very importantly, please spread this awareness among all the women around you.

For any further information, you can visit http://www.indiancancersocietydelhi.com

And finally a neat and alcohol free cheers from Hardrock Cafe´ 🙂

Going big on Food @ Windsor Suites, Bangkok

The Windsor Suites located in the plush locales of Sukhumvit, needs little introduction for it offers the complete hotel experience and stands tall on credibility.

IMG_1811

The hotel has it all when one talks about facilities and services. Their spa, beer garden, helipad, health club and pool deserve a special mention.

The hotel did surprise us with its plethora of eating avenues, all distinct and inviting in their own ways. Here is a little peek,  hope your taste buds find solace:

Their bakery to begin with offers a variety of breads, baked goods and cakes which would compliment your tea and coffee rather well.

For the authentic Japanese food lovers, it doesn’t get any better! Youzen, the Japanese Restaurant has a jaw-dropping selection of  delicacies to pick and choose from.  Their Atrium lounge and Italian restaurant also make for worthwhile visits.

The Golden Palace Restaurant, on the other hand serves the perfect blend of Chinese delicacies and scrumptious sea food along with a whole variety of Dim-sums.

We quite enjoyed unwinding over live-soothing music and enjoying our meal with gripping and fun-filled conversation with our kind host, Earth Saiswang at the Cafe.

Image

The Windsor Suites Cafe offers an overwhelming variety of international cuisine and one can sure hog big time on seafood.  I absolutely loved the Pad Thai made for me at the live station.  And not to forget, the desserts were lip-smacking! For salad lovers, there is ample to choose from!
We dined on the night as we were welcoming my birthday, believe me that I could not have asked for a better dining experience.
Image
The functioning was smooth, the staff was  very friendly and best part being that most dishes were likable and not just fancy show-pieces.
For those who are in-house guests, they must not underestimate the culinary potential of the hotel and others, must drop-in for a quality meal at affordable price.

Bloggers´Meet @ W

Bloggers´ Meet is always an interesting way to explore new things while getting to meet other bloggers who share similar interests. This time it was women apparels´brand W to host an evening full of fun exclusively for bloggers in the capital. The evening was primarily a toast to the launch of an all new festive collection while also showcasing other fresh designs, colours and silhouettes.

The brand´s USP according to us is the western twist that they render to their ethnic cuts. We simply love their tunic kurtas that can be worn with leggings for an ethnic look or worn just like that for a casual fun look. Other interesting new pieces included cropped pants to skimming trousers, printed personality trousers, circular folkloric skirts to side wrap dresses.

Lets revisit all the fun we had at the meet…
