Not just for the sweet tooth!

To all our Thai friends, here is wishing you all A Very Happy Songkran!!! I remember being in Thailand around this time of overwhelming festivity wherein everyone was soaked with joy and excitement…

Thai love their desserts and we too love their local sweet items, especially the Banana Roti and Sticky Rice Mango. I sure love to go big on the latter! It is one dessert which is constantly good whether at a plush restaurant or a street-side cafe. But what I am most thrilled to share amidst all the festive favour is about this rather interesting Body Scrub treatment on offer at all Oasis Spa outlets in Thailand. Believe it or not but it is the Mango Sticky Rice Body Scrub. Stopping rubbing your eyes, you read it right. Your favourite dessert is all set to impress you as an exotic and rejuvenating body treatment.

For all those who are already intrigued, here is more. The scrub is made up of mango butter to nourish your skin while being exfoliated with a mixture of finely textured coconut and rice. And at the same time, the mango delights your senses.

The spa chain has an enticing promotion running till the end of next month i.e. May, where this sublime treatment comes free with any of their signature treatments.

So, if in Thailand, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to pamper your skin with some sweetness!

Going big on Food @ Windsor Suites, Bangkok

The Windsor Suites located in the plush locales of Sukhumvit, needs little introduction for it offers the complete hotel experience and stands tall on credibility.

The hotel has it all when one talks about facilities and services. Their spa, beer garden, helipad, health club and pool deserve a special mention.

The hotel did surprise us with its plethora of eating avenues, all distinct and inviting in their own ways. Here is a little peek,  hope your taste buds find solace:

Their bakery to begin with offers a variety of breads, baked goods and cakes which would compliment your tea and coffee rather well.

For the authentic Japanese food lovers, it doesn’t get any better! Youzen, the Japanese Restaurant has a jaw-dropping selection of  delicacies to pick and choose from.  Their Atrium lounge and Italian restaurant also make for worthwhile visits.

The Golden Palace Restaurant, on the other hand serves the perfect blend of Chinese delicacies and scrumptious sea food along with a whole variety of Dim-sums.

We quite enjoyed unwinding over live-soothing music and enjoying our meal with gripping and fun-filled conversation with our kind host, Earth Saiswang at the Cafe.

The Windsor Suites Cafe offers an overwhelming variety of international cuisine and one can sure hog big time on seafood.  I absolutely loved the Pad Thai made for me at the live station.  And not to forget, the desserts were lip-smacking! For salad lovers, there is ample to choose from!
We dined on the night as we were welcoming my birthday, believe me that I could not have asked for a better dining experience.

The functioning was smooth, the staff was  very friendly and best part being that most dishes were likable and not just fancy show-pieces.
For those who are in-house guests, they must not underestimate the culinary potential of the hotel and others, must drop-in for a quality meal at affordable price.

Enjoy Thailand like the Locals do!

Thailand has it all to make it a tourist’s paradise! However, this time around I am glad to experience it differently; thanks to my friends- I visited so many places which usually never make it to a foreigner’s ‘Places to Visit’ diary! Here is a peek into some of the memorable experiences-

Bangkok- There is just so much to do in here that one always falls short of days. If you are fully aware of what all is in store, you would be surprised to realize that there is ample buzz both during the day and the night. I am a big Chatuchak Market fan, it is believed to be the world’s largest weekend market. Getting lost in its lanes while shopping has its own charm! There is no end to what all you can get here, I was surprised to see such funky accessories for pets and believe me, some really fine pieces for your home can be purchased from this shopping haven. There are ample shopping avenues to spoil you- for the affordable and trendy clothes and accessories-it is a must that girls head to the Platinum Mall. For those who prefer the branded route, Siam Paragon and Emporium Malls should be the preferred choices. Some exciting offers and discounts can be rather enticing! In the evenings, you could shop amidst the hustle-bustle, a stroll at Khao San and Patpong can be fun! Your bargaining skills are sure put to test in here!

For the foodies, the Eat Me Restaurant at Silom is very international and offers some great delicacies. The  soothing ambience after a busy day comes as a blessing! Their flourless dark chocolate cake is simply divine!

Another innovative and interesting restaurant is Greyhound at the Emporium Mall. It is genuinely one of those out-of-the-box restaurants which stands out for its unique dishes. Their Complicated Noodles are outstanding to say the least!

Image

Octave Bar and Lounge at the Marriott makes for a refreshing roof-top experience! For a lavish buffet spread, Windsor Suites is a sensible pick.

Street food is addictive and one is spoilt for options. The Platinum food court offers some heavenly local delicacies, the mango salad here was really delicious.

When in Thailand, spas have to make it to your itinerary, my pick would be The Oasis Spa in Sukhumvit without a doubt!

Pattaya- For all those who love to strike a pose every now and then, their new 3D art gallery makes for a worthwhile experience! For Shopping, the Central Mall is ideal for branded stuff!  Their weekend night market is enjoyable especially if you like indulging in street food, you sure have to try the banana roti on the Beach Road.

Image

You need to save some time to have a drink at the Hilton, the view and ambience is simply priceless.  Take the pampering quotient a notch higher with foot massages(even on the beach), nail art and hairstyling.

Phuket- Perfect choice would be to stay at the Patong Beach. This area is quite happening and would not leave much room for you to go elsewhere. The beach here is  blissful!  Simon Cabaret, FantaSea and Water Park make for great tourists attractions. And not to miss the amazing Thai doughnuts- Pa Thong Ko, you must try them! Joe’s Downstairs offers the view of the beach and has some fine delicacies.

Patong Sea Food is the ideal restaurant for those who like to go big with seafood, their Tamarind Prawns shouldn’t be given a miss!

For the  ultimate experience, don’t forget to  book yourself a day trip to Phi Phi as you are sure to return with memories of a lifetime….

Look forward to hearing your experiences of the Amazing Thailand!

The Surreal Oasis in Thailand

I love spas, quality spas. While planning for my holiday this time around, I was much wiser as straight after booking my air-tickets, I got down to browsing things to experience in the amazing Thailand.  Though I am not new to the country but I genuinely wanted to enjoy it like never before.  Relaxation and rejuvenation were high on priority, hence the eagerness to hit the spas only doubled.

This is when I desired to visit the The Oasis Spa as I was immensely impressed with their offerings and ambience as showcased on their website. Earth Saiswang from The Oasis Spa was very welcoming and invited me to experience what later I realized worked like complete magic on my mind, body and soul.

Image

First up, my friend from Bangkok-Sonia and I excitedly headed to The Oasis Spa in Sukhumvit 31. It is one of those spas which would make you fall in love with it the moment you enter. The alluring ambience and hospitable staff just take the whole experience a notch higher. The wait time was minimal and we straight away headed to experience the highly recommended signature treatment- King of Oasis. I was actually quite looking forward to the pampering that would last for two hours. The walk upto the room soaks you in a mystical space as the perfect backdrop was provided by the lotus flowers in the pond.

This treatment is called by some “stress management” Thai style. The treatment starts with a Thai herbal hot compress along the strong muscle lines followed by a hot oil massage that stretches the muscles while re-opening the body’s energy pathways. The treatment is rather unique combining Thai massage techniques with aromatherapy massage.

Now that I think about it, this therapy was ideal for me since I needed to ease on the crazy running around I had done as a build up to the trip and for the long week I had post the treatment which included hopping cities, shopping sessions, birthday celebrations and so much more. Thumbs up to the King of Oasis for the effective recharge kick!

The treatment does transform you to a serene and soothing space. I feel the highlight of The Oasis Spa is the fact that it re-defines the concept of day spa as even though it is in the middle of the city, it is fully equipped to detach you from the outside stress and frenzy.

The cherry on the cake had to be the ginger tea and trust me, it was one of the best I have ever had.

Image

Just as this one got done, I already wanted to try their other outlets as I learnt they have their branches in Phuket, Chiang Mai and Pattaya as well.

That is when we were invited to yet another pampering session at their branch in Karon Muang in Phuket. This definitely was going to be a double treat as not only would this have been my first trip to Phuket but I would also be blessed with another unforgettable experience by The Oasis Spa. I was also told that with the breathtaking views that include the Andaman Ocean and Phuket’s Big Marble Buddha, this spa truly offers a ‘mountaintop experience.’

The showers made way for us to taste luxury as we headed to our spa destination in Phuket. The consistency in high standards was seen here again as we witnessed impeccable interiors and the ever-smiling therapists.

As the clock was ticking fast, we went ahead with an hour long aromatherapy treatment. The entire handling was very professional and warm. The pressure of the therapy just apt to ease off the tiredness from a long day spent at the islands.

All in all, for those who are looking for a spa experience with a difference in the land of massages and spas- this oasis of luxury, comfort and serenity should be the preferred choice.

Thank you Oasis Team for the fabulous spa dates with my dear friend!
