Friday’s Fashion Night-Out

Well, when the evening calls for a veteran in the fashion industry showcasing her range, the levels of excitement and expectations are sure going to be high.

Ace designer Payal Jain came forth this Friday with Âme – The Soul,  a Collection which was simple yet sensual with romance rising from the depths of the inner soul, recounting purity!! The entire range was all about “inner soul”.  The soul mentioned here would be one which would be ageless, invincible, untouched and pure. While believing in the concept of an eternal soul, these creations are here to stay!

Each outfit was rich in character and spoke for itself. The Collection showcased floating ivory chiffons and milky georgettes, speckled with precious crystals and pearls. Also, what one was witnessed to were outfits sculpted in shimmery embroideries and elaborate weaves. What was impressive to see were the sparkling whites of the sunlit hours blend into the intense hues of orange as if wiping away the landscape with the last ray of the sun, spilling into the midnight blue and the dark black depths of the seductive night!

The grand fashion night-out had an impressive guest list. Those who attended included the likes of Suneet Verma, Ravi Bajaj, Ashish & Misha Soni, Sunil Sethi, Ramola Bachchan, Poonam Bhagat, Ambika Pillai, Leena Singh, Nikki & Adesh Mahajan, Thenny, Sanjay Kapur, Gautam Kalra and many others.

Bloggers´Meet @ W

Bloggers´ Meet is always an interesting way to explore new things while getting to meet other bloggers who share similar interests. This time it was women apparels´brand W to host an evening full of fun exclusively for bloggers in the capital. The evening was primarily a toast to the launch of an all new festive collection while also showcasing other fresh designs, colours and silhouettes.

The brand´s USP according to us is the western twist that they render to their ethnic cuts. We simply love their tunic kurtas that can be worn with leggings for an ethnic look or worn just like that for a casual fun look. Other interesting new pieces included cropped pants to skimming trousers, printed personality trousers, circular folkloric skirts to side wrap dresses.

Lets revisit all the fun we had at the meet…

Debarun´s Festive Collection at LFW 13

Let´s check out Debarun’s Festive Collection 2013 that brings forth recognizable elements from the classic past and merges them with the present while harping on origins which seem vaguely familiar at every moment.

To interpret this inspiration, Debarun has used a colors palette comprising of beige, ivory, red  and nude tones. The choice of this palette symbolizes the essence of Ba-Dastoor in terms its classical ethos and ethereal fee.  The fabrics are tassar silk, cotton kora, viscouse silk, velvets and matka silk. As for the silhouettes Debarun choose to vary it across classic and neo-classical Indian silhouettes

The collection comprises of sarees, lehengas, layered dresses, churidar suits as these have been and will be reminiscent of any eternal story at every point in time not only today but even after a century.

For the men, Debarun has chosen short jackets teamed with kurtas, band gala’s, long flared coats and sherwani inspired suits to take you back in time and remind you of elements which are eternal.

The collection draws inspiration from motifs which are geometric as well as ornamental. Leveraging on Debarun’s strength at synchronising the structured geometric motifs with the fluency of traditional motifs, the combination highlights the eternal feel of Ba-Dastoor traversing across time from the past and seamlessly merging into the present.

A wide variety of techniques including block prints, over-dying, hand embroidery and applique has been Debarun’s choice for this collection using an aged and matt finish to highlight the influence of the classical while infusing it with the contemporary.

Fun, Festivities & More @ L’OCCITANE

The madness and merry-making is in the air, so no way was L’OCCITANE going to keep off from them.

Shagun and I were lucky enough to be pulled into the beauty feast this weekend while gallivanting in Khan Market. Breaking many a myths that skin-care products are all about women, L’OCCITANE proudly presented its award winning Men’s Collection over an energetic and fun-filled evening co-hosted by blogger Santu Misra.

And trust us- the pampering levels were redefined at this gathering. While we got up-close with the L’OCCITANE diverse and unique collections, the granitas and cup cakes too were rather tempting.

What got us most intrigued was the game of blackjack. This was special only because each winner bagged for himself an exciting L’OCCITANE product. Well, though luck didn’t favour me, maybe I am lucky (not) in love these days but the dealer for the evening was kind enough to gift me something too!

This one sure made for an engaging evening, it was great shaking hands with some friends, getting to know Santu and experiencing the hospitality of the warm L’OCCITANE team!
